人物經歷
1958年7月1日,萬衛星出生於湖北天門。
1982年,萬衛星畢業後就讀和工作於中科院武漢物理所,師從我國著名空間物理學家李鈞院士。
1989年,獲博士學位,並留所工作,歷任該所助理研究員、副研究員、研究員、研究室主任。他在武漢學習工作期間已經顯示出卓越的才能,承擔並完成了近20項國家重大重點基礎課題和國防工程項目研究,發表了100多篇學術論文。
2004年起,由於中科院進行學科整合,萬衛星帶領電離層物理研究室的主要骨幹由武漢遷往北京,在中科院地質與地球物理研究所成立地磁與空間物理研究室,並擔任研究室主任至今。
九三學社第十四屆中央委員會委員 ;第十三屆全國人大代表。
2018年3月— ,任第十三屆全國人民代表大會常務委員會委員。
獲得記錄
先後獲得湖北省科技進步獎一等獎和國家發明獎四等獎,湖北省自然科學獎三等獎、武漢市科技進步獎一等獎和國防科技獎三等獎,獲得湖北省有突出貢獻中青年專家稱號等榮譽;1992年獲國務院政府津貼,1995年獲得國家傑出青年科學基金資助。
此外獲得中科院院長獎學金特別獎、中國青年科技獎等,併入選全國“百千萬人才工程”1995/1996年度一、二級人選。
主要研究領域
1、電離層物理學:包括電離層結構與擾動地區特性、電離層空間天氣等;
2、電離層電波傳播:包括擾動電離層電波傳播理論、電離層電波傳播效應修正的套用研究等。
主要科研成果
1、電離層擾動的高頻無線電廣義射線反演,獲中科院自然科學成果二等獎。
2、中國電離層擾動地區特性研究,獲湖北省自然科學三等獎。
3、GPS動態定位的理論與實驗,獲得武漢市科技進步一等獎。
4、“北斗一號”大面積電波傳播誤差修正系統,獲國防科技成果三等獎。
