研究方向
從事病原微生物的新功能基因和蛋白質組學研究以及創新藥物和疫苗的開發。
從事極端微生物和病原微生物的分子生物學研究,在環境微生物生物技術及微生物的生物化學與分子生物學領域取得了創新成果 。

科研成果
①在美國哈佛大學醫學院學習期間,師從美國科學院院士Charles C. Richardson教授開展T7噬菌體病毒DNA複製的研究,發現了病毒的單鏈DNA結合蛋白C-末端小肽對其DNA聚合酶、DNA解旋酶以及引發酶等多個複製關鍵酶的功能有重要調控作用,在國際著名雜誌JBC上發表研究論文2篇,有關研究結果最近被Nature等雜誌引用;
②系統開展了中國西北某地質油藏的極端微生物與石油的相互作用研究,發現了具有重要功能的微生物類群,整合外源優勢微生物研製了能夠提高石油採收率的生物技術,在中國油田首期套用獲得了較大經濟效益並有深遠的套用前景,成果在美國的油氣雜誌作為焦點(Focus)論文發表;
③通過開展分離自雲南的具有我國資源特色的極端嗜酸熱古菌研究,成功從高溫微生物中克隆了硫氧化還原酶基因並首次在大腸桿菌中高效表達了熱穩定性的酶,結果在歐美核心期刊發表研究論文3篇,獲得國家授權發明專利2項,有關研究最近被Science等雜誌引用。

近年來共發表SCI論文三十多篇,EI收錄論文3篇,獲得國家授權發明專利2項。以主要身份參與了美國國家衛生研究院(NIH)項目、歐共體項目、國家自然科學基金重點項目,科技部重大專項,以及國際合作項目等課題的研究。目前主持國家自然科學基金,湖北省青年傑出人才基金,教育部留學回國基金,華中農業大學高層次引進人才啟動基金等項目的研究。
現主持6項國家及省部級科研課題,2006年入選教育部新世紀優秀人才資助計畫。2010年 獲國家傑出青年科學基金 資助。
