1956 生於湖北天門
1982年華中師範大學數學系學習並獲學士學位。
1988年中國科學院系統科學與數學所學習並獲碩士學位。
2001年獲武漢大學博士學位。
1982年1月-今， 先後任華中師範大學數學系助教、副教授、教授。曾任數學與統計學學院院長（原數學系系主任）
