《戰地榮耀》海報本片以美國獨立戰爭時代背景，講述了一位著名美國軍官的戲劇性故事，揭露了一個關於英雄、愛、背叛和心靈懺悔的故事。1775年美國獨立戰爭中，本尼迪-阿諾德晉升為美國軍官。在攻占魁北克一役失敗後，這位年輕而勇敢的領導者帶領自己的士兵成功地躲避了英國士兵的巡邏隊，然後又將士兵改編成造船者，於是，美國第一批海軍誕生了。阿諾德的英明、果敢贏得了士兵們的尊敬與愛戴，並終於是他得到了喬治-華盛頓將軍的提拔，晉升為少將。然而，愛情卻成為了最致命的敵人，阿諾德愛上了美國獨立戰爭的支持和同情者瑪吉，瑪吉誘使阿諾德支持英國並背叛他的祖國，為此阿諾德可以獲得一比豐厚的報酬。當華盛頓將軍成為國父時，阿諾德卻不得不生活在背叛所帶來的心理陰影下。阿諾德雖然在魁北克戰役、瓦爾克戰役和薩拉托加戰役中英勇殺敵、指揮若定，但他最後的背叛行為卻使這位不可一世的大英雄深處與人生最嚴峻的考驗中，並窮其一生都在進行心靈的懺悔。
