創作背景
這首歌曲為電影《塞爾瑪》而創作 。科曼在電影中飾演“詹姆斯·貝弗爾”一角，他想將自身的一些想法以音樂的形式訴說出來，於是電影導演阿娃·杜威內將主題曲的創作工作安排給了他。隨後科曼找到了約翰·傳奇，並通過五分鐘的時間同他交流了電影的主要內容。科曼為約翰提供了三個歌曲備選名稱，其中一個標題“Glory”使約翰產生了譜寫歌曲副歌的共鳴，於是歌曲以此為名，且約翰創作了這首歌曲的副歌，並錄製了一份帶有鋼琴伴奏的小樣寄給科曼。這份小樣成為了科曼創作歌曲其餘部分的靈感 。
