In paragraph 12, one sentence is that “insecure showoffs show off because, as ……” confused me. Why dose the author put “because” in that position rather than opening? I think the author wanted to emphasize on this fact. Then why dose the author use her friend words rather than her own words to explain insecure showoffs show off? In my opinion, it can persuade to readers who believe the reason that insecure showoffs do in this way. It is worth learning that individuals’ opinion is instead of others’ in our writing, because it invites the readers’ attention easily.
There are two words “message” and “folks” which are perfectly used. Both of them have different meaning in variant situation. “Folks” means showoffs in this article, and it brings about vividness to this paragraph. If we read one word many times in the same paragraph, we would feed up with it. However, the author skillfully applied words concerned; the whole content is not monotonous.
Turning to the paragraph 15, what does the meaning of “four” in the first sentence? Does it say “four mother” or “four children”? I read through this paragraph, I found it means “four children”. And the quite mother of four is admirable. And in the last sentence of the paragraph 15, “with admiration”, “with astonishment”, “with awe”, balanced and it has more rhythmical as same as the poem.
What self-restraint! Not only we need to show off in our life, but also we need learning how to express showing off which is satisfied to others. Skilled showing off could gain others’ admiration, astonishment and awe. None would like listenlistening to showoffs who consider himself correct.
