Flow-relatedenhancementisanenhancementofflowingbloodseenongradientechopulsesequencesaswellasinentryslicesofmultslicespinechosequences.Thisenhancementisaresultofinflowofunsaturated(completelyrelaxed)spinsintoasliceplaneorimagingvolumebetweenRFexcitations.StationaryspinswithintheimagingvolumewillundergoincompleteT1relaxationbetweenRFexcitationsresultinginlesssignalfollowingthenextRFpulsewhencomparedtoinflowing,completelyrelaxedspinsinflowingblood.ThedistancethattheunsaturatedbloodcanextendintoanimagingvolumeandthereforethedegreeofenhancementisproportionaltotheTRandthevelocityoftheblood.Theuseofgradientmotionnulling(flowcompensation)improvestheflow-relatedenhancementingradientechosequences.
