1983年-1987年,武漢地質學院岩石礦物學專業學習,獲學士學位;1987年-1990年,中國地質大學(武漢)研究生院學習,獲礦物學碩士學位;1990年-1993年,湖北省地質礦產局從事岩礦鑑定、礦產開發利用工作;1993年-2005年,武漢理工大學測試中心從事X射線衍射及現代測試技術的教學工作,2001年在武漢理工大學獲博士學位;2005年至今,中國地質大學(武漢)岩礦教研室任教。
在礦物成因環境標識、礦物表面化學方面具有較深的理論基礎和較強的實驗技能。近年來,學術論文被SCI收錄43篇、被EI收錄32篇(含部分同時被SCI、EI收錄)。現為國際礦物學學術期刊《TheOpenmineralogyJournal》編委;國際粘土礦物學會會員。
