傳記法國編導。父母是作家。大學時代先學醫，後研修科學，當過記者，後轉向劇本寫作，擅長寫喜劇。70年代寫了一批搞笑喜劇，引入注目。1976年獲好萊塢支持，編導美國片《超級玩具》，成為他的導演處女作。之後活躍於歐美兩地，同時進行編劇和導演工作。1998年的《客人變成豬》極為成功。
