姚元根，男，1962年7月出生。研究員，博士生導師。

姚元根，男，1962年7月出生。1982年7月畢業於廈門大學化學系催化化學專業（學士）；1985年9月畢業於南京大學化學系無機化學專業（碩士）；1988年12月畢業於南京大學化學系無機化學專業（博士）；1989

年2月到中國科學院福建物質結構研究所做博士後；1991年5月作為訪問學者到英國Newcastle大學化學系A.G.Sykes教授研究室進行合作研究；1992年3月到日本岡山理科大學化學系柴原隆志T.Shibahara研究室做博士後；1993年3月回到福建物質結構研究所，被聘為副研究員，1998年被聘為研究員，1999年被聘為博士生導師。現任福建物質結構研究所副所長，《結構化學》常務副主編。主要研究方向：重要生物過程中的結構化學問題（金屬簇物對氮等小分子的成鍵和活化機理）；無機-有機雜化分子樹型催化劑的研究。已發表研究論文50多篇，申請中國發明專利5項。
