作為歌曲，Scarborough Fair原是一首古老的蘇格蘭民間謎歌(riddle song)，所謂”riddle song”,是指那些民間流傳廣泛，但是不知道作者是誰的歌曲，而且由於人們的相互傳唱，本來的曲調已經改變了很多。
在70 年代，Paul Simon與Art Garfunkel二重唱將它翻唱、收錄於電影《畢業生》的原聲帶中，很多人以為這首歌叫做“畢業生”，其實它的真實名字叫《史卡保羅集市》 “Scarborough Fair” 。《畢業生》是達斯汀·霍夫曼主演的一部較為成功的影片。其中另一首《寂靜之聲》也是吉他彈唱的經典歌曲。可以說這兩支歌是一個里程碑，代表了一個永恆的情緒……
