In the first sentence of paragraph one, the author uses two adjectives to describe the work environment in the past. From “no longer” we can get that the environment which is authoritarian and dehumanizing can’t be accepted by the workers now. In the 4th paragraph, “respect them as individuals” is worth racing my mind. Firstly, its literal meaning is that as individual the employee also wants to be respected. Then we can get the author’s opinion from it, and it also shows the feeling of the most workers’. They want to get a good job where they can own more dignity. “Act in a socially and environmentally responsible manner” at this paragraph’s last is a little difficult. I get this sentence’s meaning by my hard thinking. This sentence means the workers like to work in the company which is responsible for society and environment. Actually, this paragraph represents the various requests of the employees’.
The gist of the second paragraph is that the company should change attitudes and conditions when they design work.
In the first sentence of the paragraph 3, there are two words “in-box” and “out-box”. “in-box” means a box store document which is ready to manage. And “out-box” stores the document which are ready to send out.
