個人經歷
他的父親詹姆斯·泰勒是一名錄像師，母親是博物館的一名主管。詹姆斯曾經在加拿大渥太華居住過10年的時間，並於1976年從高中畢業。1994年泰勒與尼基· 萊德曼結婚，並育有3個子女。
艾倫·泰勒在2004年作為導演參加了HBO的西部電視劇《死木》的拍攝，這部電視劇聚焦在一個美國西部小城上，泰勒擔任了“Here Was a Man”這一集的導演。2005年後，泰勒先後參加了HBO多部電視劇的拍攝。
2011年，泰勒參與了兩集電視劇《權力的遊戲》的拍攝，隨後又參與了第二季共4集的拍攝。
2013年，泰勒還作為導演拍攝了電影《雷神2：黑暗世界》。
艾倫·泰勒因為他的導演技術而獲得了重大獎項。2007年，泰勒憑藉導演《黑道家族》中“Kennedy and Heidi”獲得第59屆艾美獎的“最佳劇情類導演”獎項。
同年，泰勒導演的電視劇《廣告狂人》的第一集獲得了第60屆美國導演工會獎的導演獎。
