today, we begin to learn the following paragraphs. There are many new phases[phrases], words and grammar I have never seen and known. For example, the phase “spring from”, “biased toward” and the sentence “beautiful people are assumed also to possess certain desirable”. But after the discussing and teacher’s explanation, I understand them. Those mean “be the result of”, “like or pay more attention”. And I do not [know]the meaning of that sentence. I guess it means “we always believe beautiful person [is]more excellent such as character[characterful], intelligent”.

Appearance is a word that applies to what ONES sees [see]when one is looking at someone or something. Obviously, in the case of people this covers a wide variety of visual aspects. One person’s notion of a handsome man or a beautiful woman may not correspond at all to that of another person. Beauty, as the saying goes, is in the eye of the beholder.
