unit 5 section 2

In Paragraph 5, the author talks about the relationship between being good-looking and being sexually attractive. The author says “Clearly not” to mean that he doesn’t hold the view that “good-looking” is related to sexual attractiveness. B follows his argument with the case of “Young children”. Why would the author turn to talk about young children? Because young children are not sexually mature, if good looks still matter much, then, it is not related to sex. When the author says “young children are favorably biased toward attractive children”, it means that the young children are judging other children. So when we say young children are biased toward attractive child. It means the young children like attractive child.

In paragraph 6, I am not familiar with the sentence “EVEN IF OF THE SAME SEX”. After I read the whole paragraph, I get the meaning that “even if beautiful people are of the same sex as we are”. Then the word ‘sociable’ stops me. It means “friendly”.Why would the author cite the example of “one kindergarten girl”? It seems that the children are taught the stereotype quite early.
