In paragraph 1, there are some problems for me in the first sentence. First, I can’t understand what the meaning of ‘authoritarian’ and ‘dehumanizing’ are. ‘Authoritarian’ means ‘demanding total obedience and refusing to allow people freedom to act as they wish’. It has a noun and an adjective. I know it stands for an adjective in the sentence.‘Dehumanizing’ means ‘to remove from a person the special human qualities of independent thought, feeling for other people’. It also is( is also)an adjective. The author uses these two words to modify environment. It shows the work environment is very disgusting. In this environment, I think the work efficiency is very lower. Then the author SETS some examples in order to show that what the workers want. But I still have some doubts about the next sentence. Why does the author use ‘want meaning’? In the ordinary(course of events), ‘want’ should add ‘to do’. I look it up in the dictionary, ‘want doing’ means ‘need to be done’. But I also can’t tell the difference between ‘want to do’ and ‘want doing’ clearly. Maybe ‘want doing’ is equal to ‘want to be done’.

Does it mean ‘get papers from one box, and then put them into another box’? But I feel something (is)wrong. What is the meaning of ‘from in-box to out-box’? I look them up in dictionary. My thought is wrong. ‘In-box’ means ‘a place on a computer where email messages which are sent to you are kept’, so ‘out-box’ means ‘a place on a computer where copies of email messages which you send are kept’ and here ‘paper’ stands for ‘document’. It is a simple work. The author sets this example in order to show that mindless tasks will destroy workers’ motivation and productivity. We should find the work which has a little challenge, so we are interested in doing the work, and the efficiency will be improved.
