來自英國考文垂(Coventy)的The Enemy，在主唱兼吉他手Tom Clarke、貝斯手Andy Hopkins以及鼓手Liam Watts還是16歲的年紀，就想要實現他們對音樂的夢想，其中Tom從4歲稚齡便開始學習音樂，還央求母親買小提琴給他。2006年The Enemy著手創作屬於自己的樂曲，不到一年的時間，已經撰寫出20首基本表演曲目。精湛的現場演出很快吸引英國知名獨立廠牌Stiff Records注意，接連推出單曲“40 Days and 40 Nights”、“It’s Not OK”，造成英國媒體熱烈關切，紛紛寫上“Next Big Thing”之醒目標語。
The Enemy2006年成立，現簽約於華納唱片。在考文垂與凱爾特人隊的一場友誼賽後，樂隊與他們的前經紀人John Dawkins相識於考文垂隊的理光球場。2006年5與15日蘇格蘭XFM電台的DJ Jim Gellatly第一次播出他們的歌曲40 Days and 40 Nights。2007年樂隊發表了首張專輯We'll Live and Die in These Towns，並登上了全英專輯榜的榜首，獲得白金銷量。
Music for the People是樂隊的第二張錄音室專輯，發表於2009年4月27日，發行首周惜敗給美國老牌歌手Bob Dylan的新專輯Together Through Life，屈居全英專輯榜的亞軍。專輯製作人是Mike Crossey。專輯首支單曲是No Time For Tears，在全英音樂榜上的最高排名是16位（2009年4月19日），這也是該樂隊第四首Top 20單曲。
