我大概以2003年的牙盤+中軸為例來說說區別吧：當然了，Deore以上都是中空曲柄臂加花鍵（Deore有一款是方孔）加9速的，下面主要說區別。
XTR:曲柄臂是鑄造硬質鋁，碟片都是7075鋁的，鏈輪螺母螺釘也都是7075鋁的，腿的長度從165~180mm，每2.5mm有一個型號，也就是說有7種長度，平均重量797克中軸和牙盤是一體的。其他幾個型號都不是一體的。
XT:曲柄臂是鑄鋁，中盤小碟片不是7075鋁了，螺母和螺釘也是普通鋁，腿的長度一共有5種規格，平均重量872克。
LX:在XT的基礎上，大盤中盤是鋁的，小碟片是鋼的，螺釘為不鏽鋼，螺母為鋼，腿的長度只有170和175mm兩種規格，平均重量906克。
Deore:中盤小盤都是鋼的，大盤有一種鋼的一種鋁的，中軸有一個型號不是中空的（un)，另一個型號(es)是和LX以上類型一樣是中空的，平均重量為972克~1093克。
再舉例說說飛輪：都是9段的
XTR:大的四片碟片是鈦的，小的五個是鋼的，齒片表面處理是鍍層材料為Ti/Ni-P輕質合金底座，重量240克
XT:從XT往下全部為鋼碟片了，齒片表面鍍鉻，重量300克
LX:底座不再是輕質合金，齒片表面處理為"珠光表面處理"，重量330克
Deore:齒片表面處理為鍍Ni，重量358克
看了上面的，大家應該有點體會了。XTR就是不惜成本的要把東西做成精品，其實並不見得不耐用的，但是有時候在高性能和耐用上會一定程度上考慮前者。
XT是去掉了奢侈品的好代表：例如不用鈦片什麼的，不用特殊材料，都還是用價格比較合理的材料。LX為簡略版XT，個別地方就開始偷懶。Deore則夠用就行的了。
