在最近的Essential系列後, Pete Tong便開始找出他許多曾收藏的音樂, 並第一次提出作品集的回顧。而這個責任就交給Pete Tong囉, 包括永恆的經典之作, 還有你一生中聽過最完美的電影配樂等等。
Pete Tong的Essential Classics為3CD的編輯, 他一直在所有的音樂風格里生活。從最經典批發商的音樂到排行榜上炙熱的作品, 這3張CD里絕對是定義舞曲世代最佳的代表。
Pete認為自己非常幸運, 因為每周五在Radio 1都能與幾百萬個正開始他們周末的人連繫。TheEssential Selection也常常播出所有音樂風格里最棒的創作, 而Pete也因聽眾們極佳反應而開始每周晚7點於他的節目裡放一些經典之作。 ‘ 人的一生真的會發生很多事, 但只有音樂能讓人們回想到從前, 讓人們感覺到很舒服’ 。Pete說 ‘ 當你聽見這些聲調時, 總是能讓你的心又再次沸騰, 並激起你的回憶’。
要在萬美之中挑出精華真的非常不容易。但Pete以大步的姿態將所有的聚集一起, 然後回想一些當時最受喜愛的音樂, 也就是這幾年來他曾放進排行榜第一名, 後來也成為超級當紅的音樂。
Pete說 ‘記住最近的經典編輯, 我試著去選一些出眾, 且意義深遠的原版音樂…我很謝謝有Daft Punk團隊的幫忙, 給我一些稀有, 但卻在Ibiza意義非凡的音樂。’
Pete不只是個成功的電台主持人及俱樂部DJ, 也是位在音樂技術上創新的領導人。像他自己研發的 ‘Tongcast’ (podcast) 版本便提供給全世界約40,000人下載資訊。Pete還有更多東西唷- 眼睛隨時保持張開的狀態就能找到下次最新的Essential Selection專輯。
