Read the paragraph 6 to7, I found some questions.
In the paragraph 6, the first sentence “Quality of life, on and off the job, is more important to today’s workers than ever before”. The front part of this sentence “Quality of life, on and off the job”. I know the “Quality of life” is the subject of this sentence. Why the author don’t write “on and off the job, quality of life is more important…”. I think write in this way will easier to understand. And in this paragraph, there is another puzzle. It is a word “needs”. There is a phrase “the needs of their family”. At the beginning, I was puzzled, why word “need” add “s” at behind. But I though it in detail. I guessed the word “needs” is noun. And I looked over the dictionary, I know I was right.
In the paragraph 7, there are three puzzles to me. The first is “ever-changing”. It makes up of two word “ever” and “changing”. At last, I know it means change all the time. The second is “ to avoid boredom and to increase their capabilities”. Whether the word “to” behind the word “and” can be omitted? The last puzzle is the word “makes”. It is in the sentence “they also expect ongoing job training that makes them…”. Why the words “make” add “s”? What the subject of it. Maybe “ongoing job training” is its subject.
