12—16
From paragraph twelve to paragraph sixteen, I find there are many new words and sentences in the text.
In the first line of paragraph 12, the author uses two dashes; I suppose these two dashes can connect the whole sentence well. Also, it can emphasize [emphasizes]the Insecure showoffs’ characteristic—much more sympathetic. Then, in the following text, the sentence “insecure showoffs show off because….” puzzles me. Here, the first showoff is [加a] noun, while the second showoff is a verb, and in my view, the word “because” refers to the reason why the insecure showoffs show off. It is worth mentioning the word of “message” in the fourth line of paragraph 12. This word means “way” or “information” in the sentence. However, we use it instead of other words because it is the best choice to use [delete], and it can express the meaning of sentence better. In addition, there are two dashes, which can see [be seen] as an example. What is more, in paragraph 14, the author uses “that is”, here the word refers to the sentence “sometimes folks achieve great things and nonetheless do not show off about it’. While [delete]the author use the word “nonetheless” to express that the difference between showoffs and the person who do not show off. In the paragraph 15, the author takes a mother of four children for example. In the author’ [author’s] view, this kind of person is worth admiring. In the end of this paragraph, the author uses the sentence “with admiration, with astonishment, with awe” to express his strong feeling.
To some degree, I agree to the author’s opinion. Indeed, showing off is very hard to be restrained sometimes. We see showing off as a normal behavior, which can be accept in our daily life. Therefore, to some people who do not showoff, we are filling with admiration.
