《世紀英語》是新世紀高職高專教材編委會富有積極的進取精神的一次大膽嘗試。由大連理工大學出版社組織推動的新世紀高職高專教材編委會,是一個由全國100餘所志同道合的優秀高職高專院校組成的高職高專教材建設者聯盟。編委會走過的歷程,見證了我們的與眾不同:編委會是迄今為止第一個完全按照市場原則來長期進行高職高專教材建設運作的大型組織.從編委會誕生的第一天起,我們就選擇了以高職高專教材的特色建設為己任。這不僅是由於我們擁有對高職高專教育未來發展的更為貼近實際的認識,也由於我們擁有一整套完全屬於自己的切實可行的關於教材建設的創新理念、創新組織形式與創新運作方式,更由於我們一直以來對高職高專教材品牌、特色與創新的始終如一的執著追求和堅忍不拔的長期努力一。在編委會的所有經歷中,關於教材建設理念的獨到解釋非常值得一提。這一理念可簡述如下:所謂教材建設,就是建立在教學實踐基礎上的教材的不斷深化、不斷完善的過程。在編委會的整個教材建設過程中,這一理念不僅已成為我們的核心指導原則,而且它的深受高職高專教學單位歡迎的結果,也鼓舞了我們實現任何高職高專教材特色建設的勇氣。
