LiuLianliiscurrentlyanassociateprofessorattheBeijingLanguageInstitute.AftergraduationfromtheDepartmentofChineseatNankaiUniversityin1964，sheworkedasaneditorforDramaCircle，anewspaperpublishedbytheChinesedramatistAssociation.李又安，AdeleRickettbeganherstudyofclassicalChineseliteratureinthe1940s.AfterreceivinganM.A.inCkimeseStudiesfromtheUniversityofPennsylvaniain1948,shewenttoChinaasaFulbrightscholartostudyatQinghuaUniversityandlateratYenchingUniversity.In1967shereceivedaPh.D.inChineseStudiesfromtheUniversityofPennsylvaniaandtaughtChineselanguageandliteraturetherefor12years.
