When I read the first sentence in the Paragraph 17, two dashes draw my attention. Between the two dashes, I can see a sentence----I certainly know. Why author emphasized that he or she certainly knows after the author says that everyone knows. In my opinion, the author is showing off. After this sentence, I find (found)a phrase---as a matter of fact, and I imagine another phrase---a matter of fact. It means “in fact”. This sentence is very long so that I feel puzzled---why the author puts two complex sentences into a sentence without conjunction. I look up in many references and find the answer from the article’s translation at last. The part which is behind “that” is content about the author’s confession. So this sentence is suitable(suit) for grammar structure. I also find that there are two interesting phrases. They are “local call” and “long distance call”. The former means a person calls another person and they live in the same place. The latter means some one calls another person and they are separated by a long distance. In the next sentence, I find two dashes again. But these two dashes have different function from the former. Their function(functions) is connecting two sentences. In this sentence, a word “all” draws my attention. I know “all” is object of “know”. Why does the author put it before the subject? In my opinion, the author wants to emphasize this word. That is to say the author wants to show that what the author told the strange(stranger) about his or her status is unnecessary.

In the eighteenth paragraph, there is only one sentence. In this sentence, I find the dashes at the third time. I use much time to find out the dashes’ function. At last, I think the sentence which is between (among)these two dashes is an additional explanation.

In this part, I learn much knowledge and add many phrases to my dictionary---my brain.???
