Nowadays, the problem of ‘the importance of appearance’ becomes very important. From this part, the author gives me some ideas about this topic. The phrase ‘skin deep’ is challenging (challenged)to understand. As we know, the skin is not deep. According to my teacher’s explanation, I got its meaning---it is equal to the word ‘superficial’, and ‘deep’ may means ‘level’. I feel happy to know the phrase ‘conversational ability’. Its synonym is ‘eloquent’. The first sentence of second paragraph is very complex. My teacher use(uses) many(much) time to analyze this sentence. Now, I know its structure is very clear. We must pay attention to ‘looks matter’ in this sentence as a short and simple sentence not a phrase.
This part is very interesting topic and I can learn some phrases and words from this part, and have a concept of ‘the importance of appearance’.
