I read the para1-4 in class. These paragraphs are mainly about Appearance. In the first sentence, a potential date means a person who I prospect to date with. “Asked to rank such attribute, most intellectuals put physical attractiveness near the bottom of the list.” The compete sentence is “when they are asked in…”If I rank these attributes, I put character in the first place, sincerity is the second, followed by conversational ability, good looking is the last. But actually, good looking is an essential factor to young people, especially for the young boys.
In passage 2,the phrase “a file drawer full of” interested me. My understanding of that means “a lot of”, and the author uses it vividly.
