When it comes to the first paragraph, I am not familiar with the first sentence “what do you look for in a potential date”. It is a date which [add is] possible when the necessary conditions exist. “At least they know that's how they ought to feel.” attracts me. Here “feel” means something out of our sense, of our intuition, or of our instinct, not of our reason, or of ration.
Turning to paragraph 2. The word “looks matter’’ stops me. It means looks are important. This intuition that looks matter little may be another instance of our denying real influences upon us, for there is now a file drawer full of research studies indicating that appearance is a powerful determinant of initial attraction.
In paragraph 3 and 4, the sentences are easy to understand.
