First I want to say that I don't agree with the author. He reminds me of a Chinese young writer who is named Hanhan. The words are too critical and the author was just telling what he thought when he saw the things. And he had no evidence to say that they were showing off.
The author even made me angry. Why complaining is a kind of showing off. Yes, it can be showing off. But I think complaining does not equal to showing off. When we are facing with stress, we always complain. Is that showing off? I don't think so. We just want express that we are tired. We even don't care what people think. It's really bad to be a showing off guy when we are really not showing off.
I think the author want to tell us that the world is not like something we can see by our eyes. Maybe that's right. But I think we needn't go too far, otherwise it will bring us lots of misunderstanding with others.
