With each edgy, powerful, comedic and sometimes quirky performance, she is defining herself as one of Hollywood’s leading young actresses.
Tunney starred in the film “Runaway,” which premiered at the 2005 Tribeca Film Festival. She will next be seen in the independent film “Open Window,” in which she plays a victim of sexual assault. Tunney was last seen in the drama/thriller “Paparazzi” as the wife of a high-profile movie star being stalked by a photographer. Also in 2004, Tunney starred in the films “Shadow of Fear” and “In Control of All Things,” based on the famous Zodiac Killer case.
One of Tunney’s most challenging roles was that of “Marcy,” a young woman with Tourette Syndrome, in Bob Gosse’s critically acclaimed film “Niagara, Niagara.” Her performance earned her the Best Actress-cuppa Volpe at the 1997 Venice Film Festival, as well as a 1999 Independent Spirit Award nomination for Best Female Lead.
Her additional feature credits include the comedy “The In-Laws” starring Michael Douglas and Albert Brooks; Alan Rudolph’s “The Secret Lives of Dentists”; the 2002 Sundance Film Festival hit “Cherish” opposite Tim Blake Nelson; the mountain-climbing adventure film “Vertical Limit”; “The Craft,” with Fairuza Balk; and “Julian Po” opposite Christian Slater.
