Florence And The Machine是一支來自英國的獨立搖滾樂隊，女歌手Florence Welch擔任主唱，同時也是樂團靈魂支柱；吉他手Robert Ackroyd、鼓手Christopher Lloyd Hayden、鍵盤手Isabella Summers以及豎琴手Tom Monger等人建立起的The Machine，則是Florence幕後強大的支撐樂團。

發展歷史

樂隊成立於2007年，在短短的時間內就擄獲許多人的目光，2008年發表的兩支暖身作品「Kiss With A Fist」和「Dog Days Are Over」，皆擠身英國金榜百大單曲之林。在尚未正式發行專輯之前，Florence + The Machine已率先抱回2009年全英音樂「最佳樂評人獎」，推崇聲剎時從四面八方湧入。09年推出的單曲「Rabbit Heart（Raise It Up）」於首周便拿下英國TOP12的好成績，各大傳媒——The Time（4/5）+ The Observer（4/5）+ The Guardian（4/5）+ Drowned In Sound（8/10）——皆給予近滿分的破表推崇。

Florence Welch出生於1986年8月28日，自小受到熱愛音樂的父母的影響，從7歲開始就在婚喪宴會中演出，11歲開始接受歌唱訓練課程。雖然Florence有著讀寫障礙、動作協調障礙等問題，卻絲毫不影響她追求音樂的熱情和決心，在經過治療後還可提筆撰寫歌曲。在10歲時，Welch見證了她祖父病情的惡化。而當她藝術歷史學家的外祖母自殺時，Welch14歲。據Welch說：“現在我們獲得了輝煌，但我們的過去是一個惡夢。我過去常常待在自己的房間，跳舞。”

Welch2008年以來就和文學編輯Stuart Hammond約會，他們暫時的分手為專輯《Lungs》提供了很多靈感。她說：“他不喜歡我談論我們的分手，但把它唱出來反而更有意思。”2011年他們徹底和平分手，也催生了樂隊的第二張專輯《Ceremonials》。

Welch以一頭紅髮聞名，但她其實是個天生的黑髮女郎。年少時她就熱衷閱讀各類時尚雜誌。出道時，她常把自己裝扮成假小子。但後來她逐漸形成自己獨特的著裝風格，並被各大時尚品牌和冬粉追捧。她曾多次在演唱會上穿著Gucci和Chanel的服裝。談到自己的時尚風格時，Welch說，“在舞台上，我是夏洛特夫人和奧菲利婭的綜合體……混合了恐怖哥特風的蝙蝠女士。但在現實生活中，我是個挺傳統的人。”

Isabella Summers出生於1980年10月31日，外號Isabella ‘Machine’ Summers，同樣來自英國。她擔任樂隊的鍵盤手，為首張專輯《Lungs》貢獻了5首單曲，第二張專輯《Ceremonials》中也有3首歌有她的功勞。Isabella Summers還為其他著名音樂人編寫出版過歌曲，如碧昂斯的《Countdown》。
