Green Day（年輕歲月）正式組建時間是1989年，他們的成員深受70年代朋克音樂時期經典樂隊影響，而簡明上口的流暢旋律讓他們的音樂更便於流行。 在1994年涅槃王朝（Nirvana）崩塌之後，朋克音樂復興與另類流行搖滾樂當道的時候，Green Day樂隊也一躍成為了這股風潮的中流砥柱，成為了90年代以後最受歡迎的搖滾樂隊之一，也是美國流行樂朋克復興中最有影響的樂隊之一。
