Akia是2002年環球推出的新人，迷一般的女人！她的首支也是唯一一支單曲《California》在Urban和跨界電台的點播率超過450萬次。說她神秘是因為在第1張專集也是唯一的1張發行後 便銷聲匿跡了。雖然是隸屬環球唱片的藝人，但在環球的藝人庫里卻找不到她。官網的最後更新時間是03年,此後便再也沒有動向。當2003年暑期她的首張EP《Atruprncss》發行後，一切便戛然而止。 《Atruprncss》是一張什麼樣的EP？簡單的說，它爽耳，好聽，流暢，動感。就是這樣一張EP，卻走進萬劫不復的境地，遭遇無人問津的尷尬，是無人欣賞，還是要從此懷疑美國人的審美？換個角度聽，也許便可從中得到答案。 《Atruprncss》有多好聽實在無需多講，每首歌的旋律都相當養耳誘人，幾乎將流行R&B專輯的可聽度提升到一個令人側目的地步。但是完美的旋律並不是救世主，在這個宣揚個性的年代，《Atruprncss》中略顯過時的小女生情歌已經很難吸引到喜新厭舊的青少年。在2003年，Ashanti所引領的Hip-Hop節奏至上的潮流已經成為未來R&B的重要發展方向，這股風潮引來無數人競相跟隨，Akia卻還唱著流行R&B，確實有些跟不上時代。傳統R&B的鼎盛時期已經不復存在，當Hip-Hop節奏主導著R&B的流行走向時，以旋律為重中之重的傳統R&B似乎淪落到一個二線的位置。 Akia的聲音甜美可人，力度柔軟，與樂壇天后Janet有些許相似。本身辨識度並不算很好，加上過於流暢的歌曲旋律，聽罷其聲音反而無法留下任何印象。旋律搶足了Akia本身的風頭，歌曲本身成為震撼聽眾耳膜的因素，而不是Akia，這就是所謂的歌紅人不紅吧。雖然Akia聲線柔美，但是個性全無，而且在《Atruprncss》中完全聽不出她有何過人的唱功，想在眾多的名字中記住Akia，仿佛成為一件難事。作為一個歌手，無法讓聽眾認識她的聲音，便注定了她的失敗。不誇張地說，Akia演唱著所有歌手都能演唱的歌曲，任何女歌手都能成為這些旋律的主人。 至於環球的行銷策略，似乎更讓人置疑。《California》的單曲CD早在2002年10月便已發行，而這首歌在2003年6月才在電台走紅，《Atruprncss》緊隨著在8月草草發行，此後便再無下文。為何單曲發行和送上電台的時間要相差如此之遠？為何在單曲發行一年後僅僅發行一張只有6首歌的EP？實在讓人匪夷所思。也許環球預見Akia並不會帶來明朗商業回報而匆匆履約，也許Akia和環球之間產生了分歧，這就又回到了那個關於音樂和商業的老問題。《California》的封面是一片遲暮的夕陽街景，《Atruprncss》封面上的Akia樸素簡潔，泛黃的色調顯得有那么些土氣，環球作為一個國際大廠，又怎會用如此粗糙拙劣的手法進行包裝。無法吸引《Atruprncss》購買者的眼球，聆聽便無從談起。Akia看起來，倒像是個獨立廠牌的藝人。
