ten ten ten

Paragraph one is constituted by two single sentences. The first sentence is a metaphor, with which is understanding (understand)scholastic cheating compared to surveying American eating patterns. The second sentence adapts (sets)an example to interpret how annoying it is (and)to handle the problem that(is) getting (get)a handle on scholastic cheating. In this paragraph, the phrase “get a handle on” means to start, to understand, and “frustrating” means annoying, discouraging.

In paragraph two, it says “the same kind of contrasts”. why dose the author say so? What is “same” directed against? Looking back to paragraph one, and when I read over Paragraph two, I know the reason, because in the front [former] paragraph, it has talked about the contrast of getting a handle on scholastic cheating. Here, the same kind of contrasts is (are)the different answers “Yes”, “but no” and “and no”. I have no doubt about the first answer, but whether the second answer is true or not, I am not sure. If everyone is talking the truth, how would the phenomenon appear that cheating is not a big problem at their schools?

The third paragraph is mainly talking about a picture, which is not a real picture. It is an imagination which is produced by the events the teachers say. In the first sentence, the word “one” confused me. At first, I through [thought] it mean [means] one of the interviewed teachers, but when I carefully read it for another time; I found it refers to “a very different picture”. “Chatter the myth” means break the myth , the myth is people’s misunderstanding that they think the people who would cheat are(is) some of the bad students, but to their surprise, top students at top schools are also cheating. Somebody would ask why the top students also cheat, they can work hard to achieve high achievement by themselves? It is a question really . In my opinion, some not hardworking people gain high result by cheating. On the contrary, the hardworking [students]worked for a whole year but easily exceeded by their [others'] (those)cheating, which makes them feel unfair. So the hardworking people become cheating, too. The picture also contains that “parents care more about their children’s success than about their moral development”. I think it is not the parents’ real intention. In today’s society, parents are all busing [busy at] work. They have no much time and energy to care more about their children. To them, they are just told that their children are obedient at home and get success at school is OK. [it is enough for them to be told that……] Every parent wants their children to be outstanding, so it’s not the parents’ fault. Sometimes they will not know clearly about what their children are doing in detail.

The following paragraph lists some measures to deal with the cheating phenomenon. But I think these measures will not be useful, and I agree with the psychologists’ words. The roots of the problem must be dealt with in the home. In other words, the good habit should be formed in the childhood. The last sentence of this paragraph is a stress sentence pattern, which is used to emphasize that home is the most important place in (form)the children’s self-esteem and the sense of right and wrong!

In paragraph five, the word “abdicating’ means give up something according to this paragraph. But just as I said in front(former), I think parents don’t give up that responsibility, they just don’t teach comprehensively, sometimes they maybe neglect something. With regard to what Patrick L.Daly says, it is very interesting. I think what he says is somewhat right. In the children’s mind, they may not think so much and complicated.[i think deeply probably better] Their thought is very simple.

The activity of the parents that described in Paragraph six is really wrong I think. They know cheating is wrong and [so]when their children cheat, they will [delete]get outraged. But on the other hand, they are still doing the same things and the things even worse. As (to or for)parents, they should set up a good example for their children, because children are affected most(deeply) by their parents, they will follow their parents. In this Paragraph, “outrage” is a feeling of anger and shock, and “inconsistency” is a noun, which means the words or activities are not coordinate. They are totally contradictory.

The first sentence of paragraph seven [ is]a very complicated sentence. The real subject is the part behind the word “is”, in which it contains an attribute(attributive), and there are two attributes which guided by two “who”. I think their worry is not [delete] unnecessary. Such(the) phenomenon really exists(exist). They should get good grades by their own ability, but they don’t. The only thing they care about is the result, not (the)process.

Paragraph eight shows the result of the repetitive polls, which seems terrible. Moreover, university of Illinois lists some of the more ingenious methods of cheating. It’s unbelievable. They are so smart, but what a pity, they don’t perform in the right way.
