Dr. Su receivedHISB.S. degree from Shandong University in 1982, and his Ph.D. degree in Virology from Harvard University in 1989. He completed his post-doctoral training in Immunology in 1993 at Stanford University. He was a scientist-senior scientist at SyStemix-Sandoz-Novartis from 1993-1996.He received March of Dimes Basil O’Connor Scholar Award and Jefferson Pilot Award. Now he is an associate professor at The University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill. He is also an adjunct professor at Chinese Academy of Sciences. His laboratory studies T cells during normal (T cell development and activation) and pathogenic (AIDS and leukemia) hemato-lymphopoiesis. The current research focuses on the following: 1) 1. HIV-1 replication and pathogenesis in the human thymus. 2) Development and immune functions of regulatory T (Treg) cells. 3) A Novel Ga13-p115-RhoA Pathway in T Cell Activation and HIV-1 Replication. 4) Migration and differentiation of hematopoietic stem cells (HSPC) during T cell development.
