個人經歷
荊西平男，現任北京大學化學與分子工程學院副教授。1982年和1984年在北京大學化學系分別獲得學士學位和碩士學位。1985年—1990年期間在該系任教，並於1987年晉升為講師，從事無機螢光材料方面的研究工作。1990年—1995年在英國阿伯丁大學攻讀博士學位，師從於著名固體化學家West教授，研究方向為無機材料化學。1996年—1999年在英國格林威治大學做博士後研究員，從事低壓陰極射線螢光材料方面的研究工作。1999年回國工作，在北京大學化學與分子工程學院任教，聘為副教授。研究領域包括無機螢光材料和電陶瓷材料。作為研究骨幹參加過973項目、863項目和國家自然科學基金優秀創新群體項目和重點項目，承擔過國家自然科學基金面上項目。2003年以來，開展了近紫外光激發的新型螢光材料的研究，在藍粉、綠粉和紅粉方面都取得了一些較好的結果。近年來在國際和國內重要學術期刊上發表論文30多篇；申請中國專利8項，其中3項已獲權；測定的30多種無機材料的X-射線衍射數據被JCPDS收錄，大多數為星號數據。
