《胡適英文文存2:中國哲學與思想史》由普林斯頓大學東亞系教授周質平編選胡適自1919年到1962年前後的重要英文論文及演講27篇，主要包括關於中國歷史、文化、哲學、宗教及中西文化關係的研究和介紹，既論述了中國古代哲學史從老子到韓非諸子哲學思想的歷史演變，又對自漢至北宋的中古時期哲學（包括董仲舒、王充等）、唐以後近世時期哲學（包括印度哲學、佛教、禪宗的影響和發展、程朱、陸王）作了考察和分析。

作者介紹

胡適（1891—1962），安徽績溪人。現代著名學者、詩人、歷史家、文學家、哲學家、思想家。因提倡文學革命而成為新文化運動的領袖之一。興趣廣泛，著述宏富，在文學、哲學、史學等諸多領域都有開創性的貢獻；英文寫作、演講能力俱佳，致力於向西方介紹中國歷史文化，影響深遠。歷任北京大學文學院院長、中國駐美國大使、“中央研究院”院長等職。
周質平，1947年生於上海，1970年畢業於台北東吳大學中文系，1974年獲台中東海大學碩士學位，1982年獲美國印第安納大學博士學位。現任普林斯頓大學東亞系教授。
