外觀形態
絨毛山茉莉（HuodendrontomentosumY.C.TangexS.M.HwanginActaPhytotax.sin.18(2):165.t.4.1980.），喬木，高達20米，胸徑約26厘米；樹皮灰褐色，乾時棕紅色，光滑；冬芽卵狀披針形，密被淺棕色絨毛。
絨毛山茉莉葉互生，近革質，長圓形、長圓狀披針形或倒卵狀長圓形，長5-9.5厘米，寬1.5-3.5厘米，頂端漸尖或鈍漸尖，基部楔形，邊全緣，乾時稍背卷，上面光滑無毛，下面密被灰色絨毛，側脈每邊7-9條，中脈上面凹入，下面凸起，網脈纖細而密，明顯；葉柄長1.5-2厘米，密被灰色絨毛，上面具溝槽。
花序特徵
絨毛山茉莉圓錐花序生於小枝頂端，長4-8厘米，寬3-5厘米，密被灰色絨毛；花淡黃色，長約7毫米；花梗長5-8毫米；小苞片鑽形，長約2毫米，早落；花萼杯狀，高約2毫米，萼齒5，卵狀三角形，較萼管短，密被黃色星狀絨毛；花瓣長圓形，長約6毫米，寬約2毫米，頂端短尖，花蕾時作覆瓦狀排列，花後反卷，兩面均密被淡黃色細絨毛。
絨毛山茉莉雄蕊10枚，花絲扁平，下部被長柔毛，花葯披針形，長約3毫米，藥隔寬扁，頂端3裂，中間的裂片較兩側的為短；花柱長約6毫米，被柔毛，頂端淺3裂，子房卵形，4室，每室有胚珠多顆，被長柔毛。花期5-7月。
生境分布
絨毛山茉莉產於中國的雲南省西南部。生於海拔1900米林中。絨毛山茉莉模式標本采自雲南省瑞麗附近。
