Pokemon國際宣布，公司將會在其YouTube頻道上線動畫《精靈寶可夢：世代》。動畫共18話，每話時長在3到5分鐘，前兩話將於9月16日（周五）美國東部時間 12:00p.m.播出。
共4話的2013年動畫《口袋妖怪 起源》曾講述過初代遊戲《精靈寶可夢 紅/綠》的故事。
