簡介
海寧博物館，位於風景秀麗的硤石紫薇山西側，成立於1958年6月。館藏品6000餘件，從新石器時代馬家浜文化延續而下，包含陶瓷、玉石、字畫等20餘類，層次豐富，結構完整，尤以瓷器、玉器見長。館占地面積13畝，建築面積5000餘平方米，內設文物精品館、書畫館、燈彩館、恐龍館、科普館和展覽中心，與所轄徐志摩故居、衍芬草堂等文物景點常年對外開放。館刊《海寧文博》一年四期，受到各界好評。
浙江省海寧市博物館海寧市博物館成立於1958年6月1日，是全省乃至全國較早的縣級博物館之一。初建伊始，館舍只能借用鎮上大瑤橋卜家埭吳家老宅的一間廳堂和一間廂房，藏品也僅為錢鏡塘先生無償捐贈的百餘件古書畫，省文管會下撥及日常工作中零星蒐集到的約300件文物。1978年，博物館與縣文化館、圖書館三館合一，集居於硤石西山惠力寺內。1984年10月，博物館開始獨立建制，並於1999年7月投資2500餘萬元易地新建。新館舍占地約7畝，總建築面積5000餘平方米，於2001年3月建成開放，並於2004年3月1日起對海寧市民實行免費開放。
建館以來，海寧市博物館堅持以實物陳列展覽為依託，積極開展文保宣傳、文化交流、愛國主義教育基地建設及檔案保護、文物收藏研究等工作，目前已擁有文物藏品6000餘件，下轄徐志摩故居、衍芬草堂、史東山故居、金庸舊居四個景點，成為傳承文明、傳播文化、服務大眾、啟迪民智的綜合性博物館。
浙江省海寧市博物館平時，海寧市博物館認真貫徹《文物保護法》精神，在“保護為主、搶救第一、合理利用、加強管理”的文物工作方針指導下，針對社會發展的新形勢，在文物保護、調查徵集、藏品利用、文物資源共享、開展對外交流與合作、拓展博物館的宣傳教育功能等方面作出努力，為促進經濟、文化和社會發展提供了較強的精神動力和智力支持，充分體現了博物館文化的先進性、科學性和大眾性。經過幾代博物館人的調查徵集、採集、接受捐贈和考古發掘，館藏文物逐漸得到充實，種類豐富、結構完整，在縣市級博物館中較為少見。博物館在利用館藏文物，開闢《館藏精品陳列》、《館藏鄉賢字畫陳列》、《海寧燈文化陳列》等基本陳列的同時，還積極開展近200次各類臨時展覽、講座、培訓等社會教育活動，參觀和受教育人數已達40多萬人次。2003年，海寧市博物館被中共嘉興市委辦公室、嘉興市人民政府辦公室命名為嘉興市愛國主義教育基地，07年度又被評為嘉興市愛國主義先進教育基地。今年，博物館已全面實施向全社會免費開放。
