《大學英語寫作:理論與實踐》是作者多年教授大學英語寫作課經驗的集中體現，是根據學生們的現有水平和學習上的需求，結合他們在寫作中的弱點和急需解決的問題按循序漸進的原則而編寫的。全書由五部分組成。第一部分介紹英語句子的基本類型。第二部分介紹英文段落的寫作。首先介紹段落的結構，而後介紹如何運用描寫、舉例、分類、過程、因果、對比等方法展開段落，並指導學生運用這些方法練習段落的寫作。第三部分為常見的錯誤分析。主要針對學生在寫作中易犯的各種錯誤進行講解並指導學生進行改錯練習。第四部分為套用文寫作。主要包括英文便條、通知、信函、簡歷和摘要的寫法。第五部分為非英語專業四、六級考試作文的應試技巧和範文。
