演藝經歷
斯蒂夫·巴塞米巴塞米出生在紐約的布魯克林，在中學畢業前對表演產生了濃厚的興趣，隨後到曼哈頓學習表演，並開始創作和表演舞台劇。從影前巴塞米曾在紐約做了4年的消防隊員，進入娛樂圈後，並沒有將全部精力投入到電影中，而是時常登台表演脫口秀及舞台劇。1986年，巴塞米以在電影。
除了表演之外，巴塞米還是一位不錯的編劇和導演，他編導的第一部短片《What Happened to Pete》就參加了鹿特丹、盧卡諾等多個影展。他的長片處女作《Trees Lounge》入圍坎城“導演雙周”單元，第二部作品《動物工廠》也在聖丹斯電影節首映。如今的他是當今好萊塢獨樹一幟的性格男星。
1986年，布西密以在電影《PartingGlances》中扮演的患有愛滋病的音樂家拉開了銀幕生涯的序幕。隨後，他被很多著名導演看中，不斷出現在吉姆·賈木許、馬丁·斯科西斯、科恩兄弟、約翰·卡彭特、昆汀·塔倫蒂諾、羅伯特·奧爾特曼等人的經典作品中。80年代末開始活躍於獨立製片領域，先後在科恩兄弟、塔倫蒂諾等著名獨立製片導演的作品中亮相，以擅長出演古怪另類的邊緣角色著稱，其中以1992年的《落水狗》和1996年的《冰血暴》最為人津津樂道。1997年被英國的《帝國》雜誌評為影史百位巨星第52位。
