2008年受聘為長江學者特聘教授,現為華中農業大學園藝林學學院蔬菜系教授,博士生導師

研究內容
茄科植物的抗病基因。
內容包括抗病基因(NBS-LRR)的生物信息學、遺傳定位及克隆、分子進化、比較基因組學、功能基因組學。 1.基因組學:利用生物信息學方法分析菸草、西紅柿和土豆基因組中的所有NBS-LRR基因。對這些抗病基因進行遺傳定位、比較基因組學和分子進化的研究。利用實驗手段了解抗病基因進化的規律。
2.抗病基因快速克隆方法的建立:通過對抗病基因的序列分析,找出抗病基因的保守序列,設計幾個人工微RNA用以沉默大部分NBS-LRR基因,同時設計一套VIGS沉默載體沉默基因組中的絕大多數抗病基因。這套分析系統將極大提高植物抗性的遺傳鑑定,加快抗病基因的克隆,尤其是QTL抗病基因和抗蟲基因的克隆。這套系統將首先在菸草中進行,試驗成功後再推廣到其它蔬菜和農作物上。我們同時利用第二代高通量測序技術來快速定位和克隆基因。以上技術成熟後將套用到番茄青枯病和黃化曲葉病的抗性資源篩選和抗性基因克隆中。
3.菸草與TMV的相互作用。菸草屬對TMV抗性的進化;不同野生菸草對TMV抗性的分子機理;用實驗的方法了解抗病基因N的突變規律;TMV接種後無症狀性狀的遺傳和分子機制。
