At Vivo Ventures, we believe in data. By leveraging our internal expertise in evaluating data, Vivo Ventures has generated a history of outsized returns for company founders and employees as well as for our investors. Indeed, Vivo prides itself on its working relationships with its founders who have often continued to work with the firm in other startup ventures. The majority of Vivo's investments are in U.S.based companies with therapeutic products in clinical development. In making investments we emphasize the following criteria:
The quality of the company's underlying technology, including supporting preclinical and clinical data
The market potential of the company's products
The strength of the company's intellectual propertyDespite its focus on companies with later-stage products, Vivo has been the first institutional investor in the majority of its portfolio companies and often works with companies (and their founders) that may not have significant infrastructure. We believe management plays an essential role in all companies, but our core belief is that even strong management teams cannot save products that do not work. We invest in companies with promising products, and work with management to complete the development and commercial launch of those products and achieve a successful exit.
We work to ensure the clinical development program is optimized in terms of disease indication, protocol design and regulatory strategy.
Intellectual property (IP) is another key component, and Vivo frequently becomes involved in helping guide the IP strategies of its portfolio companies. The final step of Vivo's company-building is to develop a financing strategy with management to ensure the company's sustainability. The portfolio of Vivo Ventures encompasses companies in a wide range of therapeutic areas and in various stages of development, ranging from early clinical development to commercialization and beyond. The strengths of one company may be complemented by or synergistic with those of another, as in a company with a promising drug or medical device and another with manufacturing expertise or distribution channels. We also encourage communication and potential collaboration among our portfolio companies whenever such collaboration makes business sense.

孔繁建

孔繁建管理合伙人
孔繁建是亞洲生物投資有限公司創始成員之一。孔繁建生物技術產業的職業生涯開始於1979年當他加入Cetus Corporation公司。1981年他創辦Cetus Immune Corporation 免疫公司，1983年收購其母公司。1984年共同創立Genelabs Technologies公司（ NADSAQ ： GNLB ）擔任公司董事會主席兼執行長直至1995年。在他在Genelabs 任職期間，他在美國，比利時，新加坡，瑞士和台灣內置有一個175雇員國際生物技術公司。
