自由之子指的是在獨立戰爭中美利堅合眾國在反對殖民主義的戰爭中，最普遍的一個組織即激進民主主義的“自由之子”協會。北美獨立戰爭 1775—1783年，北美十三個英屬殖民地反對英國殖民統治，謀求解放的革命戰爭。獨立的美利堅合眾國即在這次戰爭中誕生。
