Today I read the paragraph 7 and paragraph8 of the article ‘human behavior’. These two paragraphs have some new words, like ‘immune boast narcissistic’. With the dictionary the two paragraphs is no too hard, but I also have some questions about these paragraphs.
For example, in paragraphs7 the phrase ‘toots our own horn’ I don’t understand the meaning. With dictionary the toot is meaning ‘to make a short sound or series of short sounds’ and the horn is meaning ‘a hard, pointed, often curved part that grows from the top of the head of some animals’. With this meaning, I think the phrase is meaning ‘disapproving to speak too proudlu or happilu about what you have done’
In the paragraph8, the author said two kinds of showoffs are offensive.one is motivated by a fierce competitiveness, anthor is narcissistic showoffs. I agree with the author’s opinion. And I think the first showoffs is bad than the scoend showoffs, becouse the first showoffs when he is showing off, meantime he is wind others.
