全名：Jewel Kilcher （無中間名）
Jewel六歲時，她就開始歌唱生涯，她經常跟隨父母在所居住的愛斯基摩村落里演出，並倍受當地村民喜愛。直到她考上了密西根州的Interlochen美術學院。在學院的學習過程中她還參與了戲劇的表演，在學期末的會演節目《Spoon River Anthology》中擔任主演。她在畢業後去聖地亞哥找到了工作，但是她逐漸受不了了這種朝九晚五的工作方式，於是她決定把自己的主要精力放在音樂上。
