These two paragraphs describe the characteristic of a boaster or a narcissistic man. They always concern about who get a better living environment, whom become a focus in the bunch, even care about who point out the answer before he or her speak(speaking). When I read the sentence“competitive showoffs are people who resident in a permanent state of rivalry”. That means showoffs need participate the constrained world, because the resident means stay in a place longer. I cannot image how nervous showoffs live in the competitive surrounding. Are they feeling too tired to desire to escape it(可能可以去掉it)?
When I face the word “allowance”, I look it up and find its meaning, a(去a) amount of money that is given to someone regularly. Then I consider the specific situation, the allowance belongs to the little girl, so we can treat this word like the change given to the kid. Then I find same synonyms such as: brag and boast, amusing and interesting, permanent and forever, rivalry and competitiveness and so on.
The article reflects that narcissistic showoffs can be accepted when they are young, because of their childish behavior. That means if they grow up with this competitive mood and show their advantage completely. They will be treated as unpopular men. At that time, we will not describe them adorable, charming or amusing. Maybe use detestable, nauseated and boring instead.
