When I read the sentence that is “some workers care for both children and elderly parents”. I thought one of today’s social issues which is aging society. With the increasing pace of the times, the level of people’s life and medical technology are higher than ever before, and the rate of death decrease. More and more elders exist in the current world. Meanwhile, the youngest is in stronger stress of supporting their elderly parents. It is necessary that companies should care about employees timely. Either equality between men and women or stress of supporting elders, the profitability of a company declines if the company cannot be balance the relationship between workers and company.
In the paragraph 6, “on and off the job” interests me. It means workers do a routine job; they go to work and Back Home in the fixed time. And I think the first sentence in this paragraph is a topic sentence. In other word, the author already gives us the reasons why quality life, on and off job, more important to today’s workers than ever before.
In this paragraph, I know “sensitive” means understanding what other people need, and being helpful and kind to them; then “be sensitive to something” means have or show intelligent awareness or sympathetic understanding of other people’s needs, problems, or feelings. With the increasing consciousness of the significance of human rights, needs of employees has been brought to public attention. As a company, it is important to maintain a stable and motivated workforce for workers. How does the company sensitive to the personal needs of their employees? In my view, not only they can respond to these needs by establishing flextime, higher welfare, sports facilities and job security, but also they impartially deal with issues like ethnic diversity, harassment, hiring and firing, profit sharing and so on.
