Unit 3 section 4

ten ten ten

After analyzing the following 2 paragraph, I get some understandings to share to you. When it comes to paragraph, the first sentence “Quality of life, on and off the job, is more important to today’s workers than ever before” confuses me. I am not very familiar with the relationship between “Quality of life” and “on and off the job”. Based on analyzing the structure of the sentence, I get the understanding that no matter the employees on and off job, the quality of life is more important to them than ever before. Then I read the other sentences of paragraph 6, I find that it is easy to understand this paragraph. Turning to paragraph 7, I am stopped by the first sentence “In today’s ever-changing workplace”. It is my first time to see such a word as “ever-changing”. So I consult it by Longman Online Dictionary. I am so disappoint that I can not get the meaning of the word. So I only have to understand it by myself. In my view, “ever-changing” here means that employees seek employment somewhere else. When I read after this paragraph, I am sure my idea is true. Everyone has some sorts of needs to showoff, because of their self-restrained; they want to be more marketable both inside and outside the company. So they want to have different kinds of work to improve their experience.
