本書共分3部分。第1部分是聽寫技巧與評分標準，主要分析考生在聽寫練習中常犯的錯誤，歸納出一些基本的聽寫技巧；評分標準則讓學習者了解聽寫部分的基本評閱標準，供學習者自我評價。第2部分是100篇標準的聽寫練習，分別由英國和美國專家錄音，讓學習者熟悉英美兩種發音。為了讓使用者充分備考，鍛鍊記憶力，在稍後部分的生活篇練習中有意安排了一些長句子的訓練。第3部分收入包括2006年在內的近10年來所有考試真題的聽寫部分。
